Happy 2006

Happy new year to you all! I can't believe it's been 2 months...

I'm pleased to report I had a fine Christmas and this year's going pretty nicely so far. I hope you had the same. I was up north for a while, and we even got some snow, just not on Christmas day, alas. Makes for a pleasant picture all the same.

Anyway, it's good to be back.

The last couple of weeks

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything, probably because I haven't got all that much to say at the moment. The last few weeks have been fairly busy, my mind's been taken up by things (like a girl, for instance, a lovely, beautiful, already-taken girl), and I've spent probably a little too much time in the pub. Which is not at all a bad thing, except when it means that I can't concentrate on any work I should be doing, nor think of any nice things to write here and entertain you people that keep coming back for more... Bear with me while I sort my life out!

Something my blogging friend started got me thinking, about writing a book. I've always thought it was a bad idea; I still think it's a bad idea. I'm not a writer. But I thought I might try it and see what happens. I'd really like to do it without any kind of plan, writing as I go along with no changes to what's already written, and see what happens. If I actually do get myself sorted out then probably I'll set up another blog so that people can read it as it goes along (with a very big warning at the top saying "what you're about to read is almost certainly complete crap" - it's best to be honest). Look out for a link. And good luck to Owl*and Mags (whose works aren't, as far as I can tell, available online - yet).

That's all I've got for now.

*I stand corrected - it's here

More London

I just wrote something, then thought it was kind of crap, so saved it as draft. There are a few things saved as draft, and I never ever end up publishing them. So it makes me wonder why even bother with the save thing.

Anyway, some pictures instead. I'm enjoying this cameraphone lark.

Several things that are annoying me

  1. People you don't know in restaurants, who think, despite that you've gone there with someone else, that you'll be interested in talking to them.
  2. People you don't know in restaurants, who after starting talking to you, spill wine all over the place sending shards of a broken glass in various directions and leaving a new jacket splattered with red spots.
  3. Labels in jackets, that when washed according to the instructions provided in order to remove red spots, lose their colour into the jacket, thus leaving a rust coloured stain on the back (with the irony that the red spots are successfully removed).
  4. People who decide to put such labels in such jackets.
  5. People on tubes who don't take off their rucksack when it's busy as hell.
  6. People on tubes who, after having not taken off their rucksacks, shun the handrails provided to enable retention of balance and instead lean on other people. The other people being me.
  7. Drunken people on trains who fail to respect other people's personal space.
  8. Non-drunken people on trains who fail to respect other people's personal space.
  9. People in the supermarket who queue to pay for a good few minutes, but seem to forget until the last moment that they're likely to need some form of cash, card, cheque etc to finish the process. And such people who keep their purse at the very, very bottom of their very, very big bag.
  10. Blogs that do nothing but make lists and complain.
  11. Not having a TV and reducing myself to making lists of complaints.
